INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  5. Stir in the mashed bananas and chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

TIPS:

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • To make the bread even more moist, add 1/2 cup of sour cream or yogurt to the batter.
  • If you don't have chocolate chips, you can use chopped nuts or dried fruit instead.
  • To make chocolate banana muffins, pour the batter into greased muffin tins and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Enjoy! 😋😋
