- 1 cup water
- 2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon maple extract
In a medium saucepan, combine the water, brown sugar, and granulated sugar.
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugars dissolve completely.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove the syrup from the heat and stir in the maple extract.
Allow the syrup to cool slightly before serving.
Store the imitation maple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Reheat the syrup gently over low heat before serving.
